KMDC will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in this year. Since 2005, we have been walking through the KM journey with our members for more than 10 years. We would like to have different events and gatherings this year to celebrate with our members and guests to mark this special occasion. We will start with the KM Sharing Dinner Event on May 15th.
In this dinner gathering, we are honoured to have Ms. Susanna Shen, CIO of Towngas, to share with us on the topic “Providing Value to Business using Knowledge and Information”. Ms. Shen was awarded “2012 Best Value CIO Award” by China-based CIO network IT Value. Under her leadership, Towngas has recently been awarded the “Asian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award 2013”.
Since 1992, Towngas has been implementing KM initiatives by demonstrating their expertise, corporate culture, management systems and code of conduct practice to over 100 joint ventures. In addition to winning the MAKE award 2013, the company was also named Top Winner of the “Hong Kong Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise Award” and the “Best in Knowledge Culture Award”, for excellent performance in KM. The Company’s strong performance in KM and intellectual capital enables Towngas to develop a diverse business in Hong Kong, Mainland China and across the rest of Asia. So how does Towngas successfully manage its knowledge and information assets in providing true value to the business? Join us on May 15th to find out more!
Here are details of the gathering:
The development of the scientific method has made a significant contribution to how knowledge of the physical world and its phenomena is acquired. To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry must be based on gathering observable and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning and experimentation. The scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation , and the formulation and testing of hypotheses . Science, and the nature of scientific knowledge have also become the subject of Philosophy . As science itself has developed, scientific knowledge now includes a broader usage in the soft sciences such as biology and the social sciences – discussed elsewhere as meta-epistemology , or genetic epistemology , and to some extent related to " theory of cognitive development ". Note that " epistemology " is the study of knowledge and how it is acquired. Science is "the process used everyday to logically complete thoughts through inference of facts determined by calculated experiments." Sir Francis Bacon was critical in the historical development of the scientific method; his works established and popularized an inductive methodology for scientific inquiry. His famous aphorism, " knowledge is power ", is found in the Meditations Sacrae (1597).
